Of every flooded basement we've responded to in Tiburon, CA, a measurable share started with a sump pump that was undersized, neglected, or installed without proper discharge planning.
A sump pump is the last line of defense between groundwater and your finished basement. Metro Rooter Plumbing Service installs, replaces, repairs, and maintains sump pumps in Tiburon with one principle: the pump must be sized correctly for the actual water volume the basin sees, the discharge must move water far enough from the foundation, and a backup must exist for the moments when primary power fails.

Sump Pump Installation and Repair in Tiburon: FAQs
How long should a sump pump last?
Primary pumps in Tiburon, CA typically last seven to ten years. Higher-grade units last longer. Maintenance extends service life.
Do I need a backup pump?
If your basement is finished, stores anything you'd hate to lose, or your area is prone to power outages during storms — yes, a backup is the right call.
How fast can you replace a failed pump?
Same-day in most cases when the pump fails during business hours. We hold capacity for emergency pump failures in Tiburon.
Can you install where there's no existing sump system?
Yes — we install new sump systems in older homes that weren't originally designed for one. Requires evaluation first.
Why Most Failed Sump Pumps Failed Their Owners Before They Failed Mechanically
The mechanical failure of a sump pump is the visible event. The actual failure usually started months or years earlier... When we replace a failed pump, the conversation we have with the homeowner isn't really about the pump. It's about the conditions that killed the pump.
